- Public Safety Platform:
Henderson has created a progressive lane for herself in this race, stating on her campaign website: “While I will not have direct authority, I do want to clarify that I support single-payer healthcare, universal basic income, a billionaire tax to make billionaires pay their fair share, abolishing ICE, CalPERS divestment from fossil fuels, divestment from ongoing genocides in Palestine, the Congo, and Sudan, divestment from the U.S. war machine, and reparations. It is not easy to be a progressive Black woman running for office, but I believe in justice and liberation above all else.”
Her education-specific priorities include fully funding and staffing public schools, strengthening early education, prioritizing student mental health and special education, and keeping ICE out of schools.
She is endorsed by many progressive and Black-led political organizations, as well as progressive statewide elected officials.
