Background:

Assemblymember Rodriguez was first elected to the Legislature in 2024 after the seat was vacated by her husband, former Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez. Prior to joining the Legislature, she was a Commissioner on the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST), which sets training and professionalism standards for California law enforcement agencies.

During her first term in office, Assemblymember Rodriguez earned an “F” on our Legislative Scorecard, not voting to support a single good bill that we highlighted in 2025.

Public Safety Platform:

On her campaign website, Assemblymember Rodriguez states: “As a member of the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training and former security professional for various schools and school districts, Michelle has dedicated her career to the safety of those in her community.” She also promises to “work with local police departments to fund and implement community policing programs that place our police officers within the community to serve as positive and visible symbols of public safety.”

Assemblymember Rodriguez is endorsed by numerous law enforcement officials and their organizations, including the Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers’ Association, California Coalition of Law Enforcement Associations, California Police Chiefs Association, and California Correctional Peace Officers Association.
