Background:
Assemblymember Rodriguez was first elected to the Assembly in 2024 and is formerly the Mayor and City Councilmember for the City of San Fernando.
Since joining the Legislature, she has had a strong voting record on justice reform, earning an “A” on our Legislative Scorecard. Additionally, Assemblymember Rodriguez was the author of our co-sponsored bill, AB 799, which passed last year and established a first-of-its-kind life insurance policy for incarcerated firefighters.
Public Safety Platform:
While Assemblymember Rodriguez does not list public safety among her campaign priorities, she does lists five legislative priorities that are cornerstones of public safety: (1) Economic Opportunity for All, (2)Education and Safe Learning Environments, (3) Environmental Equity, Family Stability, (4) Maternal Health, and Childcare, and (5) Homelessness and Affordable Housing.
In the 2025-26 legislative cycle, she introduced bills in alignment with our values such as AB 495 The Family Safety Plan Act, which provides support to immigrant and mixed-status families by expanding the types of relatives who could be authorized to be caregivers in families’ safety plans in the event of immigration enforcement actions; AB 49, preventing local educational agencies from allowing immigration enforcement officers to enter nonpublic areas of a school site without providing a valid judicial warrant, judicial subpoena, or court order; and AB 969, a bill that creates CalWORKs protocols for waiving certain program requirements for past or present survivors of abuse.
Due to her strong voting record on justice reform and leadership on important social support legislation, IJ Action recommends that voters re-elect Assemblymember Rodriguez.
