Background:

Assemblymember Ramos was first elected to the State Assembly in 2018, becoming the first Native American to serve in the legislature. Prior to joining the Legislature, Ramos served on the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and on the San Bernardino Community College District Board of Trustees.

Since being in the Assembly, Ramos has been a strong opponent to justice reform. He has earned an “F” on our Legislative Scorecard for all three years that we have graded the state legislators, and during the time he served on the Public Safety Committee, was often vocally opposed to measures around police accountability in particular.

Public Safety Platform:

On his campaign website, Assemblymember Ramos emphasizes victims’ rights and law enforcement support. He is endorsed by half a dozen law enforcement organizations and backed by significant law enforcement funding.

Background:

Greg Abdouch is a small business owner with more than 25 years of community involvement. He has worked in sales and entrepreneurship for over 30 years, including running a construction company, and is active in his church and as a mentor. During the COVID‑19 pandemic, Abdouch helped lead a local parent group focused on pushing back against public health mandates.

Public Safety Platform:

Abdouch supports stronger support for law enforcement and tougher accountability for “criminals”. He has criticized state policies for loosening consequences for offenders and tightening rules on law enforcement. He has publicly aligned with Prop. 36, which aims to increase penalties for certain drug and property crimes and expand prison capacity.
