Assemblymember Pacheco was first elected to the State Assembly in 2022 after working for many years as a private attorney and real estate broker and briefly served on the Downey City Council and as Mayor.

Raul Ortiz Jr. has worked as a pest control business manager and served as an ordained minister for more than 40 years. He has also been active in Republican Party and community‑service organizations and describes his motivation for running as a response to what he sees as declining safety, affordability, and education in the district.

.Ortiz’s public safety focus centers on safe neighborhoods, addressing the homeless crisis, reducing crime, and tightening immigration and border‑related policies.
