Assemblymember Petrie-Norris was first elected in 2018. She was a businesswoman by trade and formerly sat on the Housing and Human Services Committee of Laguna Beach.
Assemblymember Petrie-Norris does not have a good voting record on justice reform, earning an “F” on our Legislative Scorecard in 2023 and 2025 and a “C” in 2024. She has also authored a handful of bills that ultimately failed but would have increased criminal penalties for retail theft and fentanyl sales.
Public Safety Platform:
On her campaign website, Assemblymember Petrie-Norris highlights support for firefighters and ending gun violence as part of her public safety platform. She has, however, received endorsements from several law enforcement organizations such as the California Association of Highway Patrolmen, California Correctional Peace Officers Association, and the Peace Officers Research Association of California.
