Background:
Assemblymember Nguyen was first elected to the State Assembly in 2022 after serving on the Elk Grove City Council for five years. Assemblymember Nguyen was also one of a handful of Democratic legislators who vocally endorsed Prop 36 which passed in 2024, which rolled back Prop 47, increasing criminal penalties for minor offenses.
