Steve Bradford termed out of the CA Senate in 2024. Prior to that, he was a member of the Assembly and City Council of Gardena. While in the Senate, he served on the Senate Public Safety Committee and generally voted to support justice reforms, earning an “A” on our Legislative Scorecard in 2023 and 2024.

On his campaign website, Bradford shares his track record of justice reform, highlighting legislative efforts he led, such as the “Kenneth Ross Jr. Police Decertification Act to create an impartial statewide process with due process safeguards to revoke a law enforcement officer’s certification for a criminal conviction and certain acts of serious misconduct, a law to ensure that job applicants with an expunged criminal history are not denied employment for a position if the crime they committed is irrelevant to the job, and the California Cannabis Equity Act of 2018 to assist underserved communities to participate in California’s legalized cannabis industry.”

In terms of insurance reform, Bradford mostly proposes more transparency for insurance companies but no real plan for bringing down rates. Another concerning aspect of his campaign is the fact that he is endorsed by the CA Correctional Peace Officer’s Association (CCPOA) and Sacramento Sheriff Jim Cooper.
