Chad Bianco has been the Riverside County Sheriff since 2019 and has been with the department since 1993. As Sheriff, he is widely known for his far-right political stances, widespread abuse and in-custody deaths in his county jail, and his affiliation with the Oath Keepers, an extremist anti-government group that played a lead role in the January 6th insurrection.

Most recently, Bianco seized over 650,000 ballots cast in Riverside County in 2025, claiming potential election fraud. This unconventional move is widely seen as an effort to discredit the county’s approval of Proposition 50, which temporarily redrew congressional district lines to benefit Democrats.

As a county Sheriff, Bianco’s main priority is reverting to tough-on-crime policies. On his campaign website, he touts his support for Proposition 36 in particular, stating as Governor he would, “Build off the success of Prop 36 by continuing to restore penalties for serious crimes and ensure accountability for those who commit criminal acts.” He also states his strong support for increasing funding to law enforcement.

Additionally, Bianso is a vocal opponent of justice reform, stating: “[C]areer politicians in the State Legislature have made radical crime policy mainstream.  A disturbing and twisted use of the word “reform” has pushed the progressive ideology that law enforcement and law abiding residents are somehow the bad guy, while criminals are somehow the victim.  The result is rampant organized retail theft, property crime, and violent crime skyrocketing in recent years.”

His campaign website lists endorsements of more than 50 county Sheriff’s, police chiefs, and law enforcement organizations.
