Background:

Assemblymember was elected in 2024, formerly serving as a Community Engagement Specialist for the San Diego County Office of Education and Professor in the Dept. of Africana Studies at San Diego State University.

Since joining the Assembly, she has been a strong supporter of justice reform measures, earning an “A+” on our Legislative Scorecard. As a current member of the Public Safety Committee, she often voices support for incarcerated people and their rights and pushes back against criminalization measures.
