Assemblymember Addis was first elected in 2022 after serving on the Morro Bay City Council and as Mayor Pro Tem. Prior to entering politics, she was an educator with the San Luis Coastal Unified School District for twenty years.

Shannon Kessler is a stay at home mother who has also served as an Arroyo Grande Parks and Recreation Commissioner and former PTA President. She also founded Save and Girls’ Sports Central Coast, a local group that advocates against trans girls participating in girls’ sports.

On her campaign website, Kessler parrots a false narrative that retail crime is increasing, stating: “Retail theft and repeat crime hurt workers, families, and small business owners alike. We need smart, balanced public safety policies that hold offenders accountable while focusing resources where they actually reduce crime.”
