Background:

Assemblymember Mike Fong was first elected to the State Assembly in 2022 after working in various positions in local government within Los Angeles County. Fong served as a member of the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees, and as a councilaide and East Area Director for former LA Mayor Villaraigosa.

Public Safety Platform:

Assemblymember Mike Fong does not have a written public safety platform on his campaign website, however, he has consistently voted in favor of progressive policies. This year he supported important reforms like AB 2178 to reduce prison capacity and AB 2709 to expand visitation rights, while also not voting for harmful bills like AB 1990, which would have authorized physical custody for petty shoplifting.
