Background

Krell is a former California Deputy Attorney General who served under former State Attorney General Kamala Harris. According to her website, her priorities included protecting survivors of sex trafficking, going after predatory lenders, and prosecuting attorneys that misrepresented undocumented immigrants. She is currently Chief Legal Counsel for Planned Parenthood California.

Public Safety Platform

Krell's public safety platform states the following: “As Deputy Attorney General, Maggy Krell won the City of Refuge “Hero Award” for her work protecting survivors of sex trafficking. Throughout Maggy’s 20- year legal career she has supported women and children, particularly those who have been victims of violence. Preventing crime, protecting people, and helping those who have been harmed will be the focus of her work in the Assembly.”

With her heavy emphasis on prosecuting crimes, she has received the endorsement of ten law enforcement elected officials and organizations, including Sacramento Sheriff (and former Assemblymember Jim Cooper) and the California Correctional Peace Officers Association. Because of her strong support from law enforcement, IJ Action is not making a recommendation in this race.
