IJ Action Recommendation: VOTE YES

Description

School Bond

Background

Placed on the ballot by legislative Democrats, Proposition 2 would authorize $10 billion in bond financing to build and repair schools across the state. The bond would give $8.5 billion to K-12 schools and $1.5 billion to community colleges for construction and modernization. This is the second time in five years that voters will decide the fate of school bonds, with Californians having rejected a similar $15 billion bond measure in March 2020.

IJ Action Recommendation

IJ Action recommends a yes vote on Proposition 2 as it would help backfill urgent modernization and renovation needs across our K-12 schools and community colleges. By seeking bond financing to pay for school updates, it helps ensure these needs are met despite a historic state budget deficit.
