Background:
Assemblymember Ávila Farías was first elected in 2024. Prior to joining the Assembly, she served as a Trustee on the Contra Costa County Board of Education and served eight years on the Martinez City Council.
In her first year in the Legislature, Assemblymember Ávila Farías earned a “D” on our Scorecard, only voting to support 3 of the 7 justice reform bills that we prioritized this year.
Public Safety Platform:
On her campaign website, Assemblymember Ávila Farías states that one of her priorities is “Restructuring the systems of public safety,” but she does not offer details on what that means specifically. And although she states she would “hold unfit officers and accountable for their actions,” she voted no on SB 627 this year, which bans law enforcement officers from wearing masks to conceal their identity.
She is endorsed by the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) and has accepted significant contributions from law enforcement agencies.

Background:
Arthur Webb is a former healthcare technology administrator, spending several years supporting families on Medi-Cal. While he is running as a No Party Preference candidate, he states that he identifies as a moderate Republican.
Public Safety Platform:
Webb does not state his public safety policy priorities on his campaign website. Instead, he focuses on areas of limiting the government’s role in people’s lives, election integrity, and prioritizing American citizens. He does not list any endorsements and has not raised any campaign funds. For these reasons, IJ Action has no recommendation in this race.
