Jessica Sanchez

Jessica was born in Michoacan, Mexico, and relocated to South Central Los Angeles before her first birthday. For the past six years, she has dedicated herself to the Government Relations Department at Homeboy Industries, serving as a passionate Social Justice Advocate for formerly incarcerated individuals and underserved minorities. In her role, she has been instrumental in shaping legislation, including the successful passage of SB 731, which empowers over a million Californians to access essential employment, housing, and other opportunities.

Jessica has cultivated vital relationships with key political figures and has played a significant role in managing voting flex centers. As part of her community outreach, Jessica manages a food pantry program that provides over 70 bags of food bi-weekly to local families in need. Her core focus is on fostering education, resources, and collaborative efforts to create a better environment for children in urban communities.

Jessica’s goal is to inform her system-impacted community about legislation and the importance of civic engagement. Currently, she is working toward attending UCLA to major in psychology.
