Public Safety Platform:

In his endorsement questionnaire, Garcia outlined support for eliminating sentence enhancements and mandatory minimums that don’t improve public safety. He also supported eliminating the Three Strikes Law and acknowledged that retail theft occurs because “… people do not have access to resources they need to thrive.” He also outlined support for ending life sentences without the possibility of parole, and fully funding unarmed crisis responders.

He is endorsed by outgoing Assemblymember Eloise Reyes Gomez, the CA Democratic Party, and the CA Progressive Legislative Caucus. He received the endorsement of IJ Action due to his commitment to justice reform and the fact that he has not accepted law enforcement contributions, unlike his opponent in the race.
